What is Evolution?

Evolution is the "process by which different kinds of living organisms are believed to have developed from earlier forms during the history of the earth" (Oxford Dictionary). It isn't a theory, nor pure logic. Instead, it is an observable process that can be proven through experiments. There are 4 pieces of evidence that can be used to prove evolution.

They are : Anatomy, Embryology, Biochemistry, and Fossil Record.

Biochemistry - In biochemistry, "scientists compare the DNA of organisms" and "the more DNA and amino acid sequences that organisms share, the more similar they are"(Ms. Momchilov)

Fossil Record - Fossil records let "scientists compare the remains of organisms to make a diagram of an organism's evolution"(Ms. Momchilov).

Unfortunately, the record will never be complete.

Anatomy - We can use anatomy to compare the structure of organisms. There are three types of structures within anatomy. They are : homologous, vestigial, and analogous structures.

Embryology - In embryology, "scientists compare the development of organisms before they are born"(Ms. Momchilov). A lot of organisms look similar as embryos, but they change as they grow.
